Session Two of The Lightbearers Institute, taught by Andrew Brill, guided students through portions of the Old Testament. Andrew highlighted how the Book of Genesis teaches the character of God, the foreshadowing of Christ, and much more. Andrew also covered suffering as revealed throught the Book of Job. One student summarized how God used the class to impact her thinking: This week's class was really good as well. We covered Genesis 16-50 and all of the book of Job. The part that stuck out to me was when Andrew Brill, the speaker for the week went over the book of Job and talked about his friends who came to comfort him. Andrew made a statement along the lines of 'God is a God of comfort and that we, becoming more Christ-like in our walk, are called to comfort others.' This was a good reminder for me that I am called to speak Godly comfort/encouragement into the lives of others continously.. The other thing that stuck out to me was that when we talked about Joseph and how He withstood temptations and the connection was made to Jesus and how He was tempted with everything and withstood every temptation (Hebrews 4:15). What a comfort and standard to live up to. - Natasha Hammond |
