On Wednesday, Lightbearers begins a new initiative we're calling the Lightbearers Institute. This Institute is an attempt to help students become Biblically literate, doctrinally sound, and morally pure. To this end, we're pairing seminar classes with one-one-one mentoring. The seminar classes help students increase their Biblical literacy and hone their doctrine, while the mentoring focuses on applying the knowledge so that the students become morally pure. The Institute has a four-semester course outline that consists of Old Testament, New Testament, Theology, and Faith in the World. The courses will be taught by Lightbearers staff members, area pastors, and seminary professors, while the mentors will be local men and women passionate to help students grow in their faith. This semester we're starting with a trial run, an exhibition season of sorts. Lightbearers staff, as well as a few college students and house residents, will participate in an Old Testament survey class that begins Wednesday with a teaching on Genesis 1-15. This fall, we'll do the same course again, but that time it will be a required part of the Lightbearers Discipleship Program. We're very excited about this new aspect of Lightbearers discipleship, as we aim to equip students with both zeal and knowledge. Please pray with us that this goal would be accomplished, because without the blessing of God, we can't hope to bear fruit that lasts. |
